St. Ignatius School

Jesuit Middle School

OUR SCHOOL

Dear Friends,

St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus (SJ) and the namesake of our school, understood the importance of education.  At St. Ignatius School (SIS), we witness firsthand and on a daily basis the life-changing effect a quality education can have on a student, their family, friends and community.

SIS offers a unique educational experience that goes above and beyond academics  to address the formation and growth of the whole person.  When Fr. Pedro Arrupe, SJ said , “Only by being a man or woman for others does one become fully human,” he was challenging Jesuit educators and students  to use their education to become leaders in their communities and the world. SIS takes this responsibility as seriously as it does its commitment to providing an outstanding education in the purely academic sense.

Since 1995, we have been offering the young men and women of the South Bronx a Jesuit education, grounded in the reality that God is present in all things. Our goal is to produce graduates who exemplify the Five Pillars of a Jesuit Education: young men and women who are open to growth, intellectually competent, loving, religious, and committed to doing justice.

Through our 11-year program we follow our students from middle school through college seeking to form a community of lifelong learners, working to expand a student’s mind, heart and spirit through a rigorous program of academic, spiritual and co-curricular activities.  Our outstanding staff wholeheartedly support our mission and strive to deliver every day on the promise of an exceptional, faith-based, mutually respectful learning experience here.

It is my hope that as you explore our website or come visit our school, you are provided with the information and inspiration to be an active participant in our wonderful community. We are deeply grateful and proud to be part of the remarkable 500 year legacy of Jesuit education.

In gratitude,

Rich Darell
