Our Success
(part of the 14th Congressional District) that St. Ignatius calls home is perhaps most famous for its produce, fish and meat markets. It is also home to a vibrant, but under-served residential community of primarily Hispanic residents. A pocket of extreme poverty and high risk, especially for children:
Our “little hidden gem” of a school on Manida Street has quietly provided an impactful education for 30 years, developing community leaders and role models of tomorrow in the Jesuit tradition of being people for and with others. SIS students academically outperform local public and charter schools, benefiting from an education rooted in the Jesuit principle of “cura personalis” or “care for the whole person.”
*A majority of our students are first generation Americans of Hispanic descent and many are raised by a single parent or guardian.
