Volunteer Extraordinaire: Wendy Gittings

Aricella (SIS ’18) and Ms. Gittings at 8th Grade Graduation.

Along with her husband Rob and three sons, Wendy moved to NY in August 2011 after 8 years in CA where she had served as Campus Minister at St. Nicholas School in Los Altos Hills.  Great fans of Jesuit education in general and Nativity Mission schools in particular, Wendy and Rob began supporting SIS in 2013 and in 2015, Wendy first volunteered in the library before moving to the classroom in 2016, teaching Test Prep and Religion.  Last year, she taught 7th grade Religion and joined SIS’s Education Committee.  Wendy now teaches 6th grade Religion and began her first term as a Trustee on the SIS Board in September 2018. A one-time college basketball player, Wendy’s happy to spend lunch recess rebounding for students and occasionally laces up for a little one-on-one.  A 2007 graduate of the diocese of San Jose’s Institute for Leadership in Ministry, she loves sharing her faith and passion for Scripture with SIS students and is so grateful for the warm welcome and positive spirit that pervades SIS.  Wendy is continuing her biblical study at Fordham University and in the Catholic library once known as her dining room.

Wendy is an emblem of the Ignatian virtue to become “men and women for others.”  She is not only a dynamic teacher, but an incredible role model for SIS students.  We are blessed to have Wendy at our school!

Thank you, Wendy, for your continued support!
