Volunteer Opportunities

“For those who love, nothing is too difficult, especially when it is done for the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

There are many ways to get involved at Saint Ignatius School. By using your talents, you are making it possible to create opportunities for our school, the students and their families. Volunteers make it all possible! If you are interested in sharing your time and talents with us, please contact our Advancement Director, Clare Carroll, by phone at (718) 861-9084 or by email, ccarroll@sis-nativity.org.

Volunteer Extraordinaire:

St. Ignatius School’s Test Preparation Moderator: Tricia Agosta

Tricia Agosta is a faithful St. Ignatius School volunteer, offering her time and talent to ensure that our students succeed.  She leads Test Preparation Review, a program critical to our students’ improvement on standardized exams.  Trish specifically focuses on New York State Math and English exams, TACHS (Test Admission Catholic High School) exams, and school initiated MAP tests.  From helping students hone their skills in test taking strategies to acclDSC05458imating them to standardized testing formats, Tricia thoughtfully considers each aspect of the testing process and works with students to improve their weaknesses while continuing to develop their strengths.  Tricia is positive and professional toward the students.  She takes full advantage of the two periods per week she spends with each class, and the students are receptive to her instruction.

Tricia’s education, experience, accomplishments are quite impressive.  She graduated from Union College in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree, double majoring in Microbiology and Psychology.  She went on to receive a Juris Doctorate in 1989 from St. John’s University School of Law.  She is a member of the United States Patent Bar and the New York State Bar.  Her areas of legal practice included genetic engineering, AIDS, cancer treatment and immunology – based biotechnology patent prosecution and litigation.  Tricia is extensively involved in programs within her own community.  Among many other responsibilities, she serves as a Rye Youth Council Board Member and Fundraiser Chairperson, the Rye High School Cross Country/Track Parent Organization President, and organized a monthly food drive for Port Chester Carver Center fDSC05456or 8 years.  Tricia is married to Steve Agosta, and has three children: Jack (age 19), Mike (age 17) and Lainie (age 15).

Tricia happily agreed to pilot the much needed Test Preparation program a year and a half ago.  She is an emblem of the Ignatian virtue to become “men and women for others.”  Tricia is not only a dynamic teacher, but an incredible role model for SIS students.  We are blessed to have her at our school!

Thank you, Tricia, for your continued support!!
