Walking Stations of the Cross
The Easter season is celebrated by the children of SIS as they take a “pilgrimage” through the streets of Hunts Point, pausing at specific locations in the community for quiet meditation, prayer and recitation of the Stations of the Cross. All are welcome to join in this powerful experience.
Annual Scholarship Benefit
Join us for our Annual Scholarship Benefit on Monday, May 7, 2019 at The Lighthouse, Pier 61, Chelsea Piers, NYC! Mingle with friends and supporters over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres; meet young middle school scholars and teachers of our Jesuit-sponsored program; and bid on the many exciting items in our Silent Auction. This inspirational and fun-filled evening is a wonderful way for our friends and families to help advance the mission.
Young Professionals Board Events
The Young Professionals Board supports the mission and serves the SIS community by hosting events designed to engage students in positive, fun, character-building extracurricular activities. YP hosted student events, fundraisers, and social events take place throughout the year in Manhattan and the Bronx. Look out for upcoming YP gatherings!
Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner
The Tuesday before Thanksgiving we join in celebration with our families to give thanks and count our blessings as a school community. Our parents delight in “hosting” this special Thanksgiving dinner, Latino style.
O Holy Night, A Celebration of Christmas
Our annual Nativity/Christmas Pageant is held at St. Athanasius School. All are invited to celebrate the miracle of Christmas. The live performance includes festive Christmas music, a live Nativity and holiday orchestra selections. Come enjoy the Wonder of the Nativity!
Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass
A mass for the Feast Day of our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated with our school community every December. The feast day is an important day for many of our Mexican American families to celebrate their religious and cultural identity as a school wide community.
